A little reminiscent…
In less than a month, Dave and I will be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary. I was sitting late last night thinking about everything that has happened in those three years (well the 5 that we’ve been together). We’ve learned so much, experienced more than I thought we ever would and ultimately, we have so much to be thankful for. First, is our wonderful marriage. I feel like I married the most wonderful man in the world. If ever two people were meant to be, it is us! I can put up with Dave’s never ending “your mom” jokes and his constant rambling and doing crazy things in his sleep. And he can put up with my nagging and need for things to be done on MY time as well as a few other quirks that I may have!
Then comes our children. First was Mason… a small helpless little being that we as first time parents knew not a thing about. We never knew that tap water could cause stomach cramps in an infant. We don’t know where he got his never ending list of food allergies. We still wonder where he got those bright blue eyes… since mine are brown and Dave’s are hazel. And then there was Brody. By the time #2 comes along, you think you know everything. How quickly we realized no two children are alike…in ANY way. Mason didn’t sleep through the night until he was 10 months old. Brody decided to make mommy and daddy happy by sleeping though the night at 8 weeks. Brody too, had tummy troubles. Was it allergies? Of course not, that would be simple because we already knew what to do. Brody had a kinked intestine. So, through being peed on, spit up on, changing 3am diapers and warming bottles again at 4:30, you just never realize how much love you could have for a tiny being, until you’re a parent. We are blessed and thankful. These little boys have taught us so much and made us question ourselves time and time again.
Something else we have experienced together is being apart of our church (gracelandcommunity.org). Being a part of a church plant is not an easy thing. We’ve had so many ups and downs over the last few years. We’ve been through 5 worship leaders, we’ve seen members come and go, we’ve baptized several… and God is continually blessing us. We now have a wonderful new pastor and his beautiful wife who are here all the way from Texas to help lead us where God wants us to go.
So the last few years have been eventful, fun and challenging. And I didn’t mention jobs (or the lack-there-of) or school and classes. We’ve lived, loved, and laughed ourselves silly along the way. If we’ve had this much fun and excitement in only 3 years of marriage, I can’t wait to see where the rest of our lives take us. I think we’re in for an eventful future! I love my husband and my family and I am truly blessed to have experienced all that I have. I’m proud to be an Ensor, for better or worse!
