Life in the new year…

We seem to have a hard tome keeping up with our blog… Kids, jobs, classes, church and many other things take up our time and when the day is said and done, we’re exhausted! I’ll just give you the latest on everyone.

Brody is about to turn one on the 28th. It’s so hard to believe it’s been a year since out littlest man made his debut. The time goes by SO fast! Just over a year ago, I was sitting on the couch day after day, hooked up to a contraction monitor, popping pills and taking shots just praying he wouldn’t be born as early as they were expecting. Then he was born and we were so grateful for his health, in spite of the issues with the intestinal kink. And now we’re celebrating his first birthday- and he’s as healthy as can be. His birthday is bittersweet for me. I’m so glad he’s here and healthy, but sad that my last baby is no longer a baby. We’ll be having a small family party for him the weekend before. He’s been walking for about a month now and it’s adorable. He’s such a sneaky little thing. And he’s rotten to the core, just like his daddy. He likes to give cheesy grins and thinks that by smiling at us and giving us a quick snuggle that it will get him out of trouble. He’s hot on his brother’s heels all day long and he’s a piggy…this child will seriously eat anything. That is a pleasant change from our food issues with Mason.

Mason is an awesome toddler. I couldn’t have asked for better. He is so sweet and loves his little brother, and aside from the occasional sibling rivalry, he’s very loving and nurturing to Brody. We’re still dealing with the major food allergies with the poor guy. We’ve been avoiding dairy, egg and peanuts most of his life, but due to his constant itching and eczema we’re now awaiting results of his latests tests to see if he’s allergic to anything else. Mason loves cars and anything with wheels (he’s a typical boy!) and loves to play all day long! his current favorite movies are: Cars, Finding Nemo and Toy Story. Oh, how Mason loves Buzz Lightyear!

Dave is still working like crazy and taking classes as well. We got a new dog in December and he’s been busy letting her pull him around the neighborhood. Sheba is a pure bred Weimaramer and they require quite a bit of exercise. They are also hunters and will take off at the mere thought that they might have seen a squirrel. Hence, Dave being pulled around the neighborhood! I think the neighbors are starting to get a kick out of watching them jog out in the cold and have now even begun to stop them and give them cookies. Dave is hoping to run in a half marathon this year and Sheba is his personal trainer.

I am still at home every day with the kiddos and I’m taking classes this semester as well. I love taking classes, It gives me a chance to put my brain to use (let’s face it, with 2 toddlers in the house, I never count higher than 3 or speak in sentences with more than 5 words) and it gives me a chance for some time to myself. Dave got me a hybrid bike and I’m so excited for it to get warm enough that I can cycle with him. We got a little trailer for the boys to hook to Dave’s bike and I think we’ll have a lot of fun on different trails around here. I’m excited that in June we are going to Virginia for a few days so I can meet some wonderful ladies. I talk to several ladies every day and have for over 2 years on a forum that revolves around toddlers born in September 2005. We have all planned a meet up and we’re really excited for a weekend of shopping and taking the kids to a Children’s Museum. It should be a lot of fun.

I think that gives you a little update on everyone. We’re keeping busy and enjoying the ride of life. Check back in a couple weeks and we’ll have some pictures of our baby boy’s first birthday party!
