Our baby isn’t a baby!!!

Well, it’s official, we now have 2 toddlers! Brody is 1 as of Monday and it’s still hard to believe. He’s such a big boy. He’s almost totally done with the bottle (that last one before bed is the hardest to get rid of!), eating big boy food, walking, has 8 teeth and is saying momma and dada… he’s not a baby anymore! We had a small party with just his grandparents and aunts/uncles and it was a blast. Brody loved his grandma Linda’s Winnie the Pooh cake and had a good time. We’re proud of our little boy and we love him so much! Dave will post Bday party pics soon!

In other news, we found out that Mason is allergic to more foods than we had originally thought. He has fatal allergies to dairy egg and peanuts for sure and there’s a possibility he’s developed a mild soy allergy. He’s also allergic to several different environmental things as well, but those are the least of our worries. Living with food allergies is not an easy task. These allergens are in more foods than you would realize. We have an appointment in February with an allergist/immunologist down at Children’s Hospital for further testing/treatment to make sure he doesn’t have an immune system disorder. It’s all so scary. As if parenting wasn’t hard enough, constantly worrying about every food your child eats and whether or not something he could accidentally pick up could kill him is a scary thing. We have been in contact with our local chapter of FAAST (Food Allergy Awareness, Support and Training) which is a group for parents with children with allergies like Mason’s. They offer support, advice, etc and I’m glad we found them. I’ve even been able to talk in one of my classes about food allergies. My passion for food allergy awareness and education is growing and I’m doing all I can to spread the word.

That’s pretty much all for now. Our house is still for sale and we’re hoping to get an offer soon. Although, I’ll gladly wait until the temps rise before we have to move! Thanks for checking in on the Ensors…
