Oh, the clutter
Before children, Dave and I lived comfortably in a 2 bedroom condo. We used one bedroom for our own room and the other was filled with simply a desk, an unused futon for “just in case” we ever had company. We had a few pictures on the walls, and a bit of furniture and that was it. We had Mason and suddenly we had a large swing, a bouncy seat, a pack and play, the “extra” bedroom became a baby room- that mind you went unused since he was in in our room for the remainder of our time at the condo- which meant all the stuff in that room was repositioned throughout the condo. It became slightly cluttered.
And so our hunt for a house began. We picked one out that we now live in. Guess what? It’s even more cluttered than before. The swing was replaced with bouncy toys and a small trampoline. We now have trains sets and race car tracks that cover the floors. Our house literally looks like Toys R Us threw up the boys section right here. The only rooms without toys are the kitchen and the master bedroom. Even the bathrooms are cluttered with bath toys and brightly colored potty chairs (that go unused- but that’s a different post all together).
Christmas is nearing and my heart literally sinks at the thought that our house will become even more cluttered with toys. Our kids aren’t spoiled, their toys are just large. Ride-ons, tracks, things that just take up so much space. I’ve gone through their toys numerous times looking for things to donate and give away, but they literally play with every one of their toys. Looks like it’s time to start boxing some up and rotating them. I’m hoping Christmas will bring new favorites and current toys will get pushed aside and thus making it easier for me to pack them up and ship them to new homes.
But oh, how I hate the clutter. And I’m sure it only gets worse with time.
On another note, I’m so thankful to have two beautiful little boys that make every day of my life so very special- even if it means having toys strewn across the house for the next 15 years. *Sigh*
