Quarter of a Century
Twenty Five years seems like a long time… and as of tomorrow, I will be 25 years old. I have never in my life had an issue with growing older or having a birthday. But this week is a little different. 25 has always been some magical age in my head…I feel like all my youth is gone and I’m a “real” adult now… It’s ok, though, because for the most part I love my adult life. I’m a wife and a mom and while those responsibilities are huge, I very much enjoy them.
And yes, in case you have thought closely about it…my birthday is Friday, the 13th… do do do do … but I’m not superstitious, so it matters very little to me. However, the comments I’ve received have been everything from warnings to be careful to a crooked smile and a half hearted “have a happy birthday” said with a hint of caution.
Anyway, I get to celebrate by getting a new drivers license (when I depressingly have to increase my weight from 4 years ago ), and go to the doctor. If I’m lucky, I’ll have time to squeeze in some other errands before soccer practice. What happened to birthdays being fun and full of parties and presents? Again, there goes my youth and now I’m officially an adult!!!
25, here I come!
