The family is here!

Family is something a lot of people take for granted. But to me, it is very special.

My family is very small. My mom’s side consists of her sister and my grandma. Yesterday, my Aunt Sheryl and her husband David made the trek in from Oklahoma. It’s so great to see them. I only get to see them about once a year and it’s always bitter sweet. We enjoy the time we have together, however short it may be, all the while knowing we’ll be separated again for many months. We spent today shopping and we’ll share dinner together tonight. I look forward to spending Christmas Eve with them as well.

Christmas day will be just our little fam here at home for the morning, then we’ll head to Bruce’s sister’s house for Christmas Dinner.

All of Dave’s family are here in town and seeing my family has made me greater appreciate Dave’s. I think sometimes we take for granted the fact that his entire family is within just minutes of driving from our house. We’ve already had our festivities with all of them…we’re in the home stretch of the holiday gatherings!

I love spending time with my family, especially over the holidays. I’ve learned just how fragile life is and not to take it for granted, so every moment spent with them is a very special moment to me.

Take a moment this Holiday season to look at the people around you in your life- friends and family- and take a moment to thank God for them. Their lives and your relationships with them are a gift from God that we shouldn’t take for granted.
