I am Free

Well, yesterday, Mason had his EGD. The surgery went well. They saw a couple things of concern and wound up with 10 biopsies instead of the 4 they went in after, but that’s another post.

On the way home, Mason was horribly ill from the anesthesia. I was alone, so couldn’t do much for him. He repeatedly got sick in the backseat (thank you CCHMC for towels and extra “barf bowls” for the car ride home) and every time I asked him if he wanted me to stop, he would tell me to just keep going because he wanted to go home. It was pitiful, but so very adorable all at the same time. My heart literally broke the entire 28 minutes home.

But at one point, about 15 minutes from home, Mason’s favorite song, “I Am Free” came on the radio. He asked me to turn it up. Then he said, “Mommy, this song makes me feel better”. And I stopped to think. Nearing tears, I said… “you know what, baby, this song makes Mommy feel better too”. I began thinking of the true love of Christ and how Free we really are in Him. What a glorious gift that is. God used a sick 4 yr old to make me stop for a minute and ponder over the things that sometimes in the hustle and stressful things of the day I take for granted.

I Am Free!!!
