Brody’s Results…

I just realized I never got back on here to post Brody’s MRI results. The results were in to us in only a matter of hours, despite them telling me it would take 3 days.

On April 14th, when Brody had his CT in the ER, he had a small cyst on the brain. On the 28th, just 2 weeks later, that cyst that was only the size of a penny, had grown to be the size of a golf ball. It is an Arachnoid Cyst. It is in the very center of his brain. We saw a neurosurgeon who said it was just entirely too dangerous to get to it at this point. He referred us on to a different neurosurgeon who we have yet to meet with. I spoke to the new doc on the phone, however, and he said he thinks it may be necessary to put a shunt in to drain it. Before we get to that step though, we need to go through with repeat CT scans to monitor it’s size. If it doesn’t shrink on it’s own soon, we’ll have to do something.

Brody has been 2 weeks, headache and symptom free, and that’s great. That also keeps me on edge and anxious though, just waiting for the next spell to hit. He’s looking better overall to me, though. We meet with the new neurosurgeon soon as well as his general neurologist to keep on top of everything. For now, things are stable and we have no immediate plans to do anything further.

Mason’s biopsies should be in literally any minute… so I”ll update on those when I hear back!
