Dave
So…this is my site! Want information about me? Let’s get down to it…
I grew up in the perfect, American family. A great set of parents who have always “been there”. I grew up playing baseball…lots of baseball…over 10 years worth of baseball. I’m a loyal Bengals, Reds and Buckeyes fan.
After high school, I went to UC off and on for a few years until I finally decided to get serious with my life when I decided to enter the IT industry (courtesy of a suggestion by my brother-in-law). After a few really fun jobs and some industry ups and downs, I landed a job at Miami University. I’ve worked at MU over 6 years now and I’ve been student part-time for 4 of those years (finally looking to graduate in May 2009). It’s hard to believe I’ve been working in IT for 10 years now.
What keeps me ticking? I could fill a book with the things I enjoy, but here are a few of biggies:
- My Family: My wife, kids and dog are certain to keep me laughing, sighing and running around. My parents, grandparents, sister, nieces and brother-in-law (it doesn’t end here!) are awesome and I wouldn’t ever trade them away.
- Bicycling: I really started getting into this back in 2005. The first couple of years, I really packed the miles onto my bike; with kids and all of my riding buddies leaving town, I’ve resorted to occasional rides and 5-milers with the kids tossed in the trailer.
- A Good Challenge: I love a good challenge! In the past, I’ve done the MS150 Bike Tour a couple of times; this year, a few of my work buddies did the Little Miami Triathlon. I enjoy the comaraderie and physical challenge of these types of things and always looking for a new mountain to climb (metaphor…for now).
- My Work: Sometimes I don’t enjoy where I’m working and sometimes what I’m doing isn’t my favorite thing to do, but, in general, really enjoy what I do. My current position at Miami consists largely of IT project work (project management, adding new services, improving existing services and identifying ways to improve processes). As a hobby (and occasional side-job), I truly enjoy web design and development; it ties into my internal desires to leave the world a better, prettier place.
- My Beliefs: I’m a Christian that strongly believes in building true relationships rather than leaving out literature on a doorstep. I’m not perfect and I never will be, but I don’t lack faith in a personal God (you can ask my wife if you ever wonder about either – perfection or faith).
Ask me if you want more…I’m not shy; I’m just an introvert. Read the Blog, too!
